12/17/2014      Warrant for Failure to Appear     14-0777

Police responded to the 200 block of S Emmett for a domestic dispute.  Upon arrival police were notified by DeKalb County Communications there was an active warrant on one of the subjects.  Tarrin D. Rodway, 20 yoa, of Genoa was arrested on a Boone County Warrant for Failure to Appear and transported to DeKalb County Jail to await bond.

12/14/2014      Driving Under the Influence, Speeding     14-0769

        and Driving While License Suspended

Police responded to a report of a truck in a ditch east of City limits.  Prior to arriving on scene, police were notified driver was able to get out of ditch and was seen heading into town.  The officer observed the vehicle in question and proceeded to follow the vehicle confirming the high rate of speed on radar; 70 mph in a 45 mph zone.  The driver, Ryan J. Miller, 29 yoa, of Sandwich was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Driving While License Suspended, and Speeding.  Mr. Miller was transported to the DeKalb County Jail pending bond.

 

11/23/2014                Domestic Battery      14-0711

Officers responded to the 100 block of Homewood Court.  Upon arrival officers spoke with the victim and suspect.  Rodrigo Lara, 30 yoa of Genoa was arrested for Domestic Battery and transported to DeKalb County Jail pending bond.

 

 

11/23/2014        Driving Under the Influence                                              14-0714

Officers responded to a report of a reckless driver in the 700 block of E Main Street.  Russel P. Freeman, 46 yoa of Genoa was arrested on two counts of Driving Under the Influence and failing to signal.  He posted bond and was released with a court date.

 

 

 

11/02/2014                Domestic Battery      14-0669

Officers responded to the 100 block of N Stott for a report of a domestic disturbance.  Prior to the arrival of police the offender had fled on foot.  After a thorough investigation William D. Baltes, 27 yoa, of Genoa was arrested for Criminal Damage to Property and two counts of Domestic Battery.  Mr. Baltes was transported to DeKalb Jail. 

 

10/21/2014                Domestic Battery      14-0638

Officers responded to the 700 block of E Main for a report of a domestic.  Upon arrival officers spoke with the victim involved and Juan Lozano, 54 yoa, of Genoa was arrested for two counts of Domestic Battery and one count of Aggravated Domestic Battery and transported to DeKalb County Jail.

 

10/15/2014         Domestic Battery      14-0621

Officers were called to the 100 block of N. Brown to conduct a welfare check.  Upon arrival there were claims of domestic abuse.  Jess A. Hurley, 36 yoa, of Genoa was arrested for Domestic Abuse and transported to DeKalb County Jail.

10/13/2014            Warrant for Uninsured Vehicle             14-0615

An Officer observed a vehicle with the registered owner having an active Warrant out of Ogle County.  The Officer made contact with the driver, Linda Heath, 53 yoa of Kingston was arrested for an Ogle County Warrant for Uninsured Motor Vehicle. 

 

10/13/2014               Contempt of Court Warrant                 14-0614

While on patrol an Officer observed a vehicle being driven by a person known to have a warrant for their arrest.  The Officer conducted a traffic stop and Bill R. Holland, 46 yoa of Genoa was arrested for Contempt of Court Warrant. 

 

10/12/2014              Driving With License Revoked               14-0609

          Operating an Uninsured Vehicle

While on patrol an Officer observed a speeding vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, William B. Johnson, 42 yoa of North Port, FL was issued citations for Driving with License Revoked and Speeding. 

 

10/12/2014      Warrant for Driving While License Suspended  14-0611

Maria A. Dominguez, 33 yoa, of Genoa came to the Genoa Police Department to turn herself in on a Warrant for Driving While License Suspended.  Ms. Dominguez posted bond and was released with a new court date.

Operating an Uninsured Vehicle

While on patrol an Officer observed a vehicle being driven with no brake lights.  The driver, Paul Murphy, 37 yoa of Rockford was arrested for Driving with License Suspended and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle. 

 

09/27/2014     Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol          14-0569

While observing traffic on Main Street an Officer observed a vehicle pass that did not have a functioning right rear tail light.  The driver, Alfonso Tinoco, 39 yoa was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and issued a City Ordinance Citation for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

09/22/2014                Domestic Battery      14-0555

On September 22, 2014 Matthew P. Morris, 27 yoa, of Genoa turned himself on a complaint of Domestic Battery.  Mr. Morris was transported to DeKalb County Jail to await bond court.

 

09/10/2014          No Valid Driver’s License 14-0542

                         Operating an Uninsured Vehicle

On September 10, 2014 police responded to an accident in the 600 block of E Main Street.  Upon investigation Amom G. Taylor, Jr., 31 yoa, of Genoa was arrested for No Valid Driver’s License and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.

 

09/08/2014     Failure to Appear Warrant     14-0535

David D. Way, 31 yoa, of Genoa came to the Genoa Police Department to turn himself in on a Warrant for Failure to Appear for Driving on a Revoked License.  Mr. Way posted bond and was given a new court date of October 7, 2014. 

 

09/08/2014      Domestic Battery          14-0537

Police were called to the 200 block of S Hasall Street for a domestic situation.  Upon arrival the officer interviewed both parties involved and Rachael N. Hrdy, 27 yoa, of Genoa was arrested for Domestic Battery.  Ms. Hrdy was transported to DeKalb County Corrections to await bond court. 

 

09/04/2014    Failure to Appear Warrant    14-0524

While officers were conducting a search warrant in the 400 block of W Main an individual with an outstanding warrant was located.  Carrie A. Jones, 34 yoa, of Genoa was arrested for Failure to Appear for Disorderly Conduct.  Ms. Jones was able to post bond and was released with a new court date.

08/31/2014        No Valid Driver’s License      14-0516

No Insurance

Officer stopped to assist a vehicle pulled over with hazard lights on.  Upon investigation it was discovered the driver did not have a valid driver’s license or insurance.  Jose L. Tolayo, 27 yoa, of Chicago was arrested for No Valid Driver’s License and No Insurance.  Mr. Tolayo was able to post bond and was released. 

 

08/30/2014  Driving With a Suspended License   14-0513

Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding.  The driver, Theoddis E. Newsome, 28 was arrested for Driving While License Suspended.  Mr. Newsome was able to post bond and was released.

Operating an Uninsured Vehicle

While monitoring  traffic  at Main and Washington an officer noted a vehicle being driven without  a front plate.  A traffic  stop was conducted and Devon C. Farrell, 19 yoa, of Genoa was arrested for driving  with a suspended license and operating  an uninsured vehicle.

 

 

07/28/2014                         Battery      14-0425 

Police received a report of a battery in the 300 block of E Main Street.  Upon arrival police interviewed the parties involved and arrested David M. Matuszewski, 28 yoa, of Cortland for Battery. 

07/28/2014   Disorderly Conduct        14-0424 

Officer called to the 500 block First Street for a report of Disorderly Conduct.  Officers spoke with all parties involved and Carrie A. Jones, 33 yoa, of Genoa was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.

 07/25/2014          No Valid Driver’s License 14-0420 

While observing traffic on Rt. 72 an officer noted a vehicle swerving in its own lane. A traffic stop was conducted and Marcos Garcia, 28 yoa, of Elburn was arrested for No Valid Driver’s License.

  

07/20/2014                Domestic Battery                      14-0410

Police responded to the 100 block of Prairie for a report of a domestic situation.  Upon the arrival of officers an investigation ensued and Kermit A. Watt, 53 yoa, of Genoa was arrested for domestic battery.  Mr. Watt was transported to the DeKalb County Corrections.

06/30/2014                  No Insurance &                       14-0350 

No Valid Driver’s License

An officer conducted a traffic stop on a scooter which was being operated on a public street without any registration.  The driver admitted to not having any insurance and no valid driver’s license.  Mark A. Daum, 41 yoa, of Genoa was arrested for No Insurance and No Valid Driver’s License.

 

06/28/2014          No Valid Driver’s License               14-0343 

While conducting registration checks an officer noted a van being driven in which the registered owner did not have a valid driver’s license.  A traffic stop was conducted and the owner of the vehicle was the driver.  Vincente Segura, 42 yoa, of Elgin was arrested for No Valid Driver’s License.

 

06/22/2014                Domestic Battery                      14-0325 

Police were called to the 600 block of Tyler for a report of Domestic Battery. Officers arrested Jarod W. Bryer, 34 yoa, of Genoa. Mr. Bryer was transported to the DeKalb County Jail to await a bond hearing.

 

06/15/2014             Domestic Battery            14-0313

 Police responded to a report of a domestic battery.  Upon investigating, Officers arrested Trisha Gentry, 40 yoa, of Genoa for Domestic Battery. Ms. Gentry was transported to DeKalb County Jail.

 

06/14/2014             Driving While Intoxicated            14-0308

Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian

While Police were on foot patrol a vehicle sped by almost hitting one of the Officers.  Police were able to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle and Anthony V. Saucedo, 24 yoa, of Kingston was arrested for Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian and Driving While Intoxicated. 

 

06/13/2014             Driving While License Suspended            14-0304

Police observed an individual sleeping in his vehicle and upon checking to see if he was okay discovered the individual to have a suspended license. He reportedly had not been driving and Police went on their way.  Approximately 2 hours later Officers observed a passenger get into the vehicle and the same individual start the vehicle.  Police stopped and arrested Arthur Babneau, 47 yoa, of Rockford for Driving on a Suspended License.  

 

06/13/2014         Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Officer,         14-0301

Damage to State Supported Property 14-0299

While Police were on foot patrol they observed two individuals that appeared to be intoxicated trying to speak to what appeared to be two juveniles that requested they be left alone. Police stopped the suspects and requested Identification.  One of the suspects, Kai J. Dassi, 20 yoa, of Elgin was arrested for Unlawful Consumption of Liquor, Resisting a Peace Officer, and Criminal Damage to State Supported Property.  Mr. Dassi was transported to the DeKalb County Jail.  The second individual, Anthony J. Zaitz, 19 yoa, of Elgin was issued a citation for Unlawful Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor.

 

06/13/2014         Driving While License Revoked           14-0299

Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Pearson Drive for a report of a hit and run. Upon arrival they were also notified of property taken.  Police were able to locate the suspect: Keith R. Marshall, 54 yoa, of Genoa who was driving on a revoked license.  No other charges were filed due to the property being recovered, no damage to vehicles, and no complaints signed.

 

05/07/2014 Aggravated Battery         14-0204

 Police were notified by Kishwaukee Hospital of a possible aggravated battery.  After a full investigation Garrod R. Fanon, 22 yoa, of Genoa was arrested for Aggravated Battery and transported to the DeKalb County Jail.

 

05/06/2014 Driving on Suspended License & No Insurance  14-0206

Officer pulled a vehicle over for speeding 50 in a 35 mph.

Officer conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle at which time it was discovered the driver had a suspended license, no insurance, and an expired registration.  The driver, Chase M. Akins was arrested for all of the above and released on an I-Bond.

 

 

05/01/2014 IDOC Warrant Parole Violation       14-0196

 Police were notified of a No Bond Parole Violation Warrant for Shane A. Klinkhammer, 20 yoa, of Genoa.  Mr. Klinkhammer was located in his home in the 100 block of N. Locust where he was arrested and transported to the DeKalb County Jail.

 

 

04/28/2014 Trespass to Motor Vehicle      14-0187

Police were called to the 300 block of S Genoa for a Domestic Dispute.  Upon arrival Officers were informed the suspect had taken the victim’s vehicle without permission.  The suspect, Thomas A. Berott, 42 yoa, of Genoa was arrested for Trespass to Motor Vehicle and Driving While License Revoked. 

04/15/2014 Domestic Battery   14-0166 

Police were called to a home in the 700 block of Watson for an alleged battery of a small child.  After an investigation by DCFS and the Genoa Police Department Donald R. Fencl, 26 yoa, of Genoa was arrested on two counts of Domestic Battery.  Mr. Fencl was transported to the DeKalb County Jail.

 

04/02/2014 Driving With License Revoked         14-0141

Officer observed a vehicle being driven by an individual known to not have a valid Driver’s License.  A traffic stop was conducted and Thomas A. Berott, 41 yoa, of Genoa was arrested for Driving With License Revoked.

 

03/22/2014 Possession of Controlled Substance        14-0121

Officers were dispatched to the 300 block W Hill for a domestic disturbance.  While investigating the domestic, heroine was found in the home. Brian D. Jeralds, 30 yoa, of Genoa was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Mr. Jeralds was transported to the DeKalb County Jail.

 

03/23/14 Failure to Appear Warrant 14-0122

Officer responded to the 100 block of S Washington for a verbal domestic. While investigating the Officer was notified by DeKalb County Communications of an outstanding Kane County Warrant for Naomi L. Rodriguez, 29 yoa, of Genoa for Retail Theft Failure to Appear.  Ms. Rodriguez was able to post bond and was released with a new court date of April 9, 2014.

03/13/2014 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia 14-0110

Carl F. Pierce, Jr., 33 yoa, of DeKalb turned himself into the Genoa Police Department on a Warrant for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Mr. Pierce posted $300.00 bond and was released with a court date of April 11, 2014.

01/25/14 Battery and Criminal Trespass to Real Property 14-0039

Police were dispatch to the 600 block of First Street for a report of a Battery that had just occurred. Upon arrival Police were able to speak with the victim and the suspect; both relayed the same story to police resulting in an arrest. Robby S. Montgomery, 43 yoa, of Genoa was arrested for Battery and Criminal Trespass to Real Property.  Mr. Montgomery was able to post bond and was released with a court date of February 27, 2014.

01/03/14 Failure to Appear Warrant 14-0004

Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with an expired registration. Upon making contact with the vehicle owner it was discovered that she, Tierra C. Lopez-Rogers, 19 yoa, of Genoa, was wanted on a warrant for Failure to Appear – Unlawful Display of Plates. Ms. Lopez-Rogers was able to able to post $500.00 bond and was released with a court date of January 23, 2014.

Dog owners are responsible for their pets!

Police have been responding to a surprising number of complaints concerning dogs including, Dogs Running at Large, Barking Dogs, and Dogs without a City License.

Loose dogs will be impounded and released back to the  owner after payment of the $20 impound fee with proof of a city license (requires proof of rabies vaccination).

The owner can be cited for permitting the dog to run, no city license and any other apparent violations. These violations are $45 each!

Dogs not claimed the same day they were picked up are transferred to county animal control where owners face additional fines and fees.
