Ty Lynch proudly served his country as a military police officer for three years. Immediately following in November of 1988, Ty became a police officer with the City of Genoa and was promoted to Sergeant of Investigations in March of 1998. Ty accepted the role of Police Chief in the summer of 2010. Ty’s prior responsibilities with the Genoa Police Department include Sergeant, Juvenile Officer, Criminal Investigator, Firearms Instructor, and Training Coordinator. He graduated from Northwestern School of Staff and Command in 2001 and feels that good officers become great officers with the proper training and mentoring. Ty is married to Tammy and together they have five children; Josh, Tanya, Jessica, Andrew, and Kayleigh. Ty chooses to reside in Genoa because he feels a strong commitment to the community as well as loving it and thinking of it as home. As Chief of Police, Ty encourages the officers to live within the community they serve and to adhere to the Mission of the Department. |

Robert Smith has been working with the Genoa Police Department since 1995. His previous employment included the Boone County Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Army. He has been around the City of Genoa for many years. He grew up here and attended school here. He feels this has helped him when assisting and talking with the people in the community. He currently resides in Sycamore with his wife and two children. Robert was promoted to Sergeant in 2000. He currently serves as a Patrol Sergeant and Evidence Custodian for the department. He is also a Juvenile Officer and along with Ofc. Hathcoat, helps handle the majority of the juvenile court referrals. Robert has been tasked with the management and updating of the department files during the accreditation process. Some of the many police classes Robert has attended include: Northwestern Staff & Command #192 and the FBINational Academy #227. Robert has an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and is pursuing his Bachelor’s and Masters Degree from JudsonUniversity in Elgin. Robert is a member of the American Legion #337 of Genoa. He help's assist with the coordination of the Memorial Day Parade. Robert is available to talk with a variety of groups on a wide variety of topics including: Crime Prevention, Landlord Training, Senior Citizen Topics and Train Safety just to name a few. |

Officer Klink Has been working for Genoa Police Department Since 1996, his previous employment includes the United states Marine Corps where he is still currently active in the reserves and Colonel of 2nd Battalion 24th Marines. Officer Klink grew up in Sycamore, Illinois and graduated College from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. He has worked with Safe Kids and is an Advisor for the Genoa Kingston Explorer Post. Officer Klink has conducted numerous bike rodeos and bike safety classes. Officer Klink is a Field Training Officer, Bike Patrol Officer and a Pistol and Rifle instructor. He has attended the Hazardous Material course, Critical incident course, and numerous other courses and is a member of the Illinois Tactical Officer Association. He has received certificates of appreciations from the Alliance against Intoxicated Motorist and the North Central Narcotics task force. Chris Hathcoat has been a member of the Genoa Police Department since 1999. He grew up in the City of Genoa and currently lives in the immediate area. He attended First Christian Academy in Genoa and graduated from there in 1995. He has an Associate of Science Degree in Law Enforcement from Pensacola Christian College, Pensacola, FL. He holds State Certifications as a Juvenile Officer, School Resource Officer, Breathalyzer Operator, Critical Incident Management and Firearms Instructor. His training allows him to better serve his community in dealing with problems that may arise. His goals are to work with the youth of the community, build a positive raport with them, and be there for them when trouble comes their way. My name is Greg Edwards. I have been a Police Officer with the City of Genoa since 1997. I spent one year with the Illinois State Police/North Central Narcotics Task Force as an undercover narcotics officer. I am currently one of our Department's State Certified Gang Crime Specialist, Field Training Officer, and Bike Patrol Officer. Some of the most recent training I have attended includes Critical Incident Management, Advanced Reid Interrogation School, and Supervisor School. |
